The Ritz-Carlton

GRAND CAYMAN

Guests are drawn into the Silver Palm Lounge towards soaring arched windows that frame views of the resort grounds towards the North Sound. Decorative windows and doors create a separation between the energy of arrival and the haven of the lounge, while ceilings are warmed and accentuated with woven thatch patterns. Furniture invokes the relaxed residential feel of an elegant British Caribbean drawing room with neutral color selections brightening and elevating the airy space, while the rug echoes the gentle undulations waves sculpt on the sand of nearby Seven Mile Beach. Stately palms bring the outside in and frame graceful banquettes in the silvery green of Cayman’s national tree, the namesake of the Silver Palm Bar. Bold light fixtures twist palmlike planes into geometric shapes.

Like a figurative beach bonfire, the warmth and colorful spirit draws guests in.

The energy decidedly amplifies as guests move towards the Silver Palm Bar. Like a figurative beach bonfire, the warmth and colorful spirit draws guests in. The bar’s eponymous palm is joined by its wilder relatives from the Cayman jungle, while walls feature the calming greens borrowed from the fronds’ undersides. The centerpiece borne seating sets the tone for a welcoming, communal atmosphere that inspires conversations and connections. Grand Cayman’s rich cultural relationships with its surrounding Caribbean islands comes to life in the bar, visually articulated through a signature armoire guarding sensory treasures brought out each evening for guests to savor.

The distinctive silhouette of the Silver Thatch Palm is surrounded by flowering frangipani (plumeria), canella winterana (wild cinnamon), sun loving bougainvillea and the national flower, the banana orchid. As guests make their way throughout the resort, the dark casings continue, creating an architectural rhythm to guide the journey.
