The Apsley
NEW YORK, NEW YORK
The Apsley is designed as a celebration of the Upper West Side lifestyle. Reflecting the deep historical and aesthetic character of the neighborhood, we found inspiration in the classic architecture of pre-war residential buildings and landmarks like the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine. As the home of Lincoln Center and the Beacon Theater, the neighborhood is also a vital center of culture. A strong appreciation for art and creativity is present throughout the interiors.
A celebration of the Upper West Side lifestyle.
We intended to weave the project into its location. Public spaces line the sidewalk along Broadway, and the expansive windows of the dining room literally open up to the neighborhood. The Upper West Side is a vibrant residential neighborhood offering a wealth of cultural amenities including museums, markets, and bookstores. We sought to engage with the unique community fostered over so many years.

Artful and grand.
Details are artful and grand, with a calming use of wood and stone that contrasts delicately against more vibrantly colored upholstery fabric and artwork. Eye-catching lighting fixtures and a geometrically detailed bas relief build to a visually layered entry experience. There is a certain eclecticism in the color palette, a subtle playfulness further evoked by objets d'art displayed throughout the property. Amenity spaces are integrated into the first floor of the building, granting an immediate sense of hospitality to residents.
