Our brief was to help the client downsize from a classic, generous family apartment on Park Avenue to a beautiful international-style, period modern build at United Nations Plaza. It is a graciously sized apartment, with signature architecture on the exterior and expansive interiors with floor to ceiling glazing. When the buildings (it’s a twin) were first built back in the 60’s, they were really the ‘it’ buildings in New York. Johnny Carson, among many others, lived there for many years.
A lovely, layered interior.
Most of the original furnishings and key pieces were kept from their original collection so the goal was to mix these with contemporary pieces to create a lovely, layered interior that sat beautifully within this international style home. The client’s impressive art collection also informed the design decisions and colors at play.
