Conrad Nashville
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
Conrad Nashville presents a sophisticated, tailored design intended to visually capture the poetry of music. A contemporary aesthetic throughout the project references the scale and flow of classical architecture while exploring the theme of music through rhythm, variation, and materiality. Nashville is often called “The Athens of the South”. In our work, we looked closely at the flow and scale of classical forms and sought to interpret them in a contemporary way.
A sophisticated, tailored design inspired by the poetry of music.
While the city is renowned for its musical history, we found countless regional and historical references to explore. Our fascination with the geography of Nashville coalesced with the musical theme to inspire a vocabulary of wavy forms, soft edges, and the sense of connectivity that comes from looking across the urban landscape. Brass and Paldao wood, along with leather in shades like whiskey and burnt umber, grant spaces a sense of rhythm and grace.
We explored the idea of music abstractly and sought to pull in other regional and historical references.
We emphasized ideas of comfort, warmth, and a certain playfulness in form and materiality.
Throughout the hotel we emphasized ideas of comfort, warmth, and a certain playfulness in form and materiality. Guests are welcomed by a monolithic curved stone reception desk, the metal screen behind it evoking the flow of sheet music. A monumental spiral staircase between the arrival and lounge areas is framed in dark Eucalyptus Wood, complete with a satin brass balustrade inspired by musical instruments. Rhythm and liveliness pervade the restaurant space in the hammered copper hood and frames of the open kitchen.
