Raffles Hotel

SINGAPORE

Crowned as one of the greatest hotels in the world, the interiors of the Raffles Singapore represent a delicate layering of modernity, authenticity, and refined beauty, with a meticulous attention to detail. Champalimaud refreshed the design direction of this iconic hotel, drawing out its essence through honest creative decisions and poetic detail. Maintaining the ambience and sense of place that the property is known for, the spirit of Raffles is awakened through bold and effectual design. It’s a memory of old Singapore revitalized with a contemporary and artful approach.

The past, through a present lens.

As a national monument, special attention was paid to the preservation of the original colonial architecture. Public spaces have been re-planned to cultivate social engagement and create an ease of flow between spaces. With a sensibility that is much more contemporary than its previous design iterations, we emphasized scale through a curation of sumptuously shaped custom furniture, ornate screens, locally sourced heritage antiques, and impactful lighting.

The palette is composed of the original black and white contrasts juxtaposed with caramel, shades of green, and creamy neutrals.

The new reception and lobby lounge, once iconic places frequented by dignitaries and diplomats, is transformed into an elegant reception that serves as the gateway to the hotel’s alluring spaces for dining and imbibing: The Tiffin Room, The Writer’s Bar, La Dame de Pic, Long Bar, and Butcher’s Block. Light floral references and gilded trimming along with a bejeweled chandelier add a layer of refinement to the overall vision.
